New families (part 2)
Gravesail (20*20) §4.300 Difficulty: 1
Melody Gravesail
The Gravesail name has been whispered on this island for as long as anyone can remember. Their family has always handled the final arrangements – once by escorting pirates down a wooden plank, now through more formal services behind heavy oak doors. Melody carries that legacy. Completely devoted to the business of death, she moves through the mausoleum like someone who has never known any other world. Yet behind that composed exterior lives a carefully hidden appetite. From time to time the right kind of grieving relative is invited home under the polite pretense of discussing arrangements. These certain visitors tend to leave only when morning light is already creeping over the rooftops, and locals have noticed that a woman who appears to belong entirely to the dead, yet occasionally claims a living body for the night.
Brineweed (30*30) §4.600 Difficulty: 1
Arthur Brineweed
Arthur grows everything that will grow and refuses to pull even the most aggressive weeds, believing every living thing has a right to thrive. The result is a dense, tangled jungle that may or may not have caused the infamous rat infestation that once plagued the town. Whether the rats truly came from Arthur's overgrown paradise remains an open question. What isn't debated is that Arthur himself is one of the kindest, most harmless people on the island. He'll offer you a strange-looking vegetable, smile awkwardly, and wish you a good day, completely unaware that someone in town still holds his jungle responsible for the Great Rat War.
Vileheart (30*20) §5.800 Difficulty: 4
Emilio Vileheart, Celeste Vileheart, Alejandro Vileheart, Serena Vileheart, Milo Vileheart
Vilehearts run the island's most effective criminal crew, handling the dirty jobs no one else wants to touch. Instead of payment, they prefer to leave their clients quietly indebted – a debt of gratitude that has proven far more valuable than gold over the years. In their eyes, true power on Buccaneer Bay still belongs to those who honor the old pirate ways. This has put them in a long, silent contest for control of the island's hidden levers. Outwardly the Vilehearts present a tight family unit, yet behind closed doors, Celeste and Emilio work hard to keep their children away from the family business. Deep down, even they know the age of open piracy is over. Yet old habits die hard, and the Vilehearts are not quite ready to let the past rest.
Bilgewater (20*30) §3.200 Difficulty: 5
Floyd Bilgewater, Maisie Bilgewater, Beverly Bilgewater, Liberty Bilgewater, Luke Bilgewater
Floyd and Maisie never expected their rebellious daughter Beverly to return. Years ago she ran off to Bridgeport chasing fame and fortune, only to end up doing odd jobs, meeting a man, and having two children. Now she's come crawling back, single and more than a little defeated. Floyd and Maisie are over the moon about having their grandchildren under their roof, but their feelings about Beverly are more complicated. The three of them get along surprisingly well... as long as several thousand kilometers separate them. These days the old house is full of noise, toys, and the quiet understanding that some family reunions work best when no one has anywhere else to go.
Mountchime (28*22) §4.100 Difficulty: 1
Margaret Mountchime
Margaret is possibly Buccaneer Bay's most underestimated resident. At an age when most people have long since retired to quiet porches and endless cups of tea, this private investigator still takes on cases that range from missing jewelry to suspiciously convenient accidents. She moves slowly, speaks even more slowly, and sees far more than anyone expects. Locals often dismiss her as a harmless old woman with too much free time. Those who have actually hired her know better. Behind the soft voice and thick glasses is a mind that rarely forgets a detail and never quite lets go of a loose end.
Marauder (25*20) §230 Difficulty: 1
Ned Marauder
Ned once belonged to the small circle of people who could buy almost anything on the island. Money came easily, and for a long time it felt endless. Then Rum & Ruin Roulette took it all. Night after night at the tables, the fortune disappeared – first the cash, then the investments, and finally the grand old villa itself. What remained was an elderly man with empty pockets and a name that still carried weight, even if the wealth behind it was long gone. Most people still remember the name. Fewer remember the man who remains, walking the same streets with nothing left but the memory of how quickly everything can vanish.
Ropeburn (30*20) §6.400 Difficulty: 3
Jermaine Ropeburn, Octavia Ropeburn, Rhonda Ropeburn, Tyrell Ropeburn
Octavia never expected to inherit anything from a distant relative she had barely heard of – someone so far removed that even the family tree seemed embarrassed to claim the connection. Yet the papers arrived, and with them a house and a modest piece of land on Buccaneer Bay. Ropeburns packed up their old life and moved to the island, convinced this unexpected windfall would set them on a better path. Reality has proven less generous. The house needs work and the stress of it has started to wear on the family. What was supposed to be a fresh start has turned into something heavier. The Ropeburns are still trying to decide whether the distant relative's gift was a blessing... or just another problem dressed up as opportunity.
Coinreef (30*20) §7.300 Difficulty: 4
Lorenzo Coinreef, Portia Coinreef, Ines Coinreef, Caspian Coinreef
No one has ever quite figured out how Lorenzo and Portia ended up together. Lorenzo is a quiet, spreadsheet-obsessed nerd who finds genuine joy in perfectly organized files and carefully color-coded data. Portia is a radiant, social butterfly – the kind of woman who lights up every room she enters and never seems to run out of people to talk to. They met, fell in love, and started a family. Politics changed everything. As Portia threw herself into campaigns, Lorenzo took on the children and the household almost alone, and the distance at home grew. Now the question hangs between them: can two people this different still pull in the same direction, or did everyone else see the truth long before they did?
Plankwalker (30*20) §5.100 Difficulty: 2
Hector Plankwalker, Nathaniel Plankwalker
For most of Nathaniel's life, his father existed more as a story than a presence. Hector spent years at sea, returning only in brief intervals between voyages, until the sudden death of his wife forced him ashore for good. Now Hector has traded the open ocean for a quieter existence, trying to raise the teenage son he barely knows while writing down the adventures he once lived. The house is full of unfinished manuscripts, old maps, and the awkward silence of two people still learning how to share the same space. Hector wants to make up for the lost time. Nathaniel isn't sure whether it's too late. Between them lies years of absence, a dead mother, and the slow, uncertain work of becoming a family that actually lives under the same roof.
Leaf (25*22) §3.700 Difficulty: 1
Terry Leaf
Terry seems permanently caught between inspiration and rent. Most days you'll find him upstairs at The Starving Artist Gallery, surrounded by half-finished canvases, discarded sketches, and the quiet hope that this time the work might actually sell. He has talent, that much is clear. What he lacks is consistency, self-promotion, and any real interest in the business side of art. While others network and chase comissions, Terry simply paints – sometimes brilliantly, often obsessively, and rarely on schedule. In a town that already has more dreamers than practical people, Terry fits right in. Whether he'll ever turn his passion into a living remains uncertain. For now, the gallery keeps a space for him, and the island continues to supply both subjects and mild disappointment in equal measure.
