Opening Post Biographies: (active characters) Greg Preston (Preston house) Greg was born in the year 2669. Greg was raised in the Mountain Village “Ent”. He was the son of a restaurant owner, ...
It was a dangerous but also beautiful journey up to the mountain village “Ent”. Now that Greg had survived the winter, he was looked upon with respect and we were welcomed by everyone. The first we did after getting some sleep, was visiting the jeweller, inside the mountain in the old silver mine. Greg sold all his gems for 1433$
I was invited to meet with members from the Village Elder Council and St. John’s Educational Foundation today. They made me an offer. Interested in my settlement by the river the wanted to send students with me, to educate them in life in the wilderness.
The deal was that I should provide for four students for two years, then either they would return to the mountain village or build a house of their own and stay in “The River” settlement. The Elder Council would supply the needed funding if the decided to stay. Up front I was given 5500$ to pay for the needed extension of my cottage and the daily needs of the students and the Council would buy the Oxe and Wagon for me to keep. I accepted.
While Greg was at the meeting, I was taught some basic painting skills, the teacher was quite nice but my attempts to change the class into something more physical was sadly denied.
Normally March would be a safe month to travel down from the mountain, but not this year. We were caught up in a bad snow storm. I decided to leave the wagon behind, as it was heavily loaded with building materials. That way we could crosse the frozen river, saving many hours, not freeze to death.
Soon most of the snow was melting. With all the extra hands we now had and a wagon full of construction materials, it did not take us long to extend my cottage with a new wing containing 4 beds and an extra bathroom.
Terry Scully The oldest of the students, born in 2706 (19), he would have finished a private education as construction and electrical worker this summer, at the “Ent Construction Cooperations”, already skilled he should be an asset to the settlement whenever a building project was needed or something broken down needed fixing.
Elea Helsby Born in 2708 (17), Elea have been taught at the “Ent Agronomy” specialising in fishing technics. She should be able to bring home some food for the household if that education is worth anything. She is also interested in sculpturing.
John Hallett Born in 2709 (16). John has only the basic education and was send here only to learn, can’t expect him to add a lot to the community from the beginning. John is a bit neurotic but his teachers from St. John’s said it is not too bad.
Myra Frances Born in 2710 (15). Myra just as John got just basic education. Myra comes from one of the leading families in the mountain village and she is a bit of a snob. It has been a great surprise to everyone that knows her, that she has decided to go to the “River” settlement. No one knows why she did it. If you ask her, she just says it could be interesting.
Funds after this episode: Greg: 5.900 - Jenny: 7.648 Not much to say about this update, just that the four young people was (almost) random creations, changes just a few smaller things that I though would not fit the storyline
