Episode 31 – “Changes” or “You burn me up”

Others may still believe Jane is quite strange, but I think she is nice. I like to have her in my house, not to be too lonely. She does her bit of cleaning and cooking, although she is not very good at any on it.

She is slowly making friends in the settlements. I believe she may even have found a soulmate in Casel Hasan.

A few days ago, I was at the Mercier household, to have a chat about how Anita Simone and Anders Karlson was doing as students, as I was about to write a report to St. John’s Educational Foundation.
Armel Mercier seemed uneasy about the subject, but did not come up with anything concrete for me to write about.

Mussete came to me and apologized for her behavior, saying she was sorry it she had acted a little cold recently, she and some personal difficulties, but would not say more about it. Maybe because her farther was listening.

She gave me a big hug and one of her wonderful persuasive kisses. Right in front of her parents.

After that somewhat surprising experience. I spend the rest of the day at the river. Thinking it all over.

A few days later I heard that Mussete have been in a brutal fight with Anita Simone. Who was Mussete Mercier? A wonderful woman that I could love or a brutal child abuser that we should send back to the mountain village?

I finished my 2nd painting and send it to an “Ent” gallery: I knew well that I could not sell if for a large sum, but would still like to see if it was worth anything.

For obvious reason I did not attend the usual “Ent council meeting” back in September and neither did Botan Nara, as the virus was very aggressive back then. Now quite suddenly we were both called to a very late fall meeting, at the St. John family home.

Hans St. John:
We have had reports from parents that the situation in “Nara Fields” is unacceptable, we do not hold you (looking directly at Botan Nara) directly responsible. You are young and it have been a huge task for you to set up the community, but we need change.

Head of council Anders st. John:
We have decided that “Nara Fields” will be dissolved, at first all decisions will be transferred to “Greg’s River Elder’s” and Greg Preston. Later we will inform you how a new “Elder Assembly” will be formed functioning from 1 of June 2727, with members from both of the “previous” settlements.
Existing taxes collected from “Nara Fields” will be “transferred” to “Ent” to cover some of the rebuilding. As off 1. December taxes and donations will follow the “Greg’s River system”. Regarding student. We will change the rules so that students will move separate housing (two or three in one home) at the age of 22. As Terry already got his own household he will remain as “free” settler, but he and Elea will get a bigger home prepared for 3 “graduates”.
After the winter builders will arrive to rebuild the houses from Nara Fields at the River settlement, and we will likely also build some new homes and services, to make the lager settlement functional. For now, we will send builders to rebuild Greg’s house. So that he can have Anita Simone and Anders Karlson living there. The Mercier family household can no longer have students.

The Nara family got a new student to replace Anders Karlson, as Shina Nara will not be able to tend the vegetable stand, having a baby. Casel Hasan and new student Norma Dahl will share that over the next approx. two years.
