A way to change a nonhousehold sims outfit on the fly? There always in work wear....

I was wondering if there was a cheat available or some mod that allows me to change a none active households sims outfit on the fly.

I am aware of master controller but it causes more problems with my game then it fixes oddly enough.

Any other alternatives?
  • This mod from Shimrod prevents the use of career clothing

(there are more flavors - you can choose the mod which disables only career outfits too). Subscription needed, but it isn't spam-site and I have never had some problems with it.

If you enter 'testingcheats true' and then talk to the sim whose outfit you want to change, (so that the sim is placed on your relationship bar) you can click (shift) on that sim. One of the options should be 'toddler care' or something like that. If you click on it, you will get an option like 'change outfit' or something. I don't know if this is what you were looking for, but now you can also change the outfits of 'strangers'.
    (sorry for my bad english)

Thanks for the insight! That said, as @ScottDemon pointed out this is a Sims 3 thread and is a bit old. You could share this insight in a relevant, active Sims 4 thread though.

All that in mind, I've closed the thread.

    - Open the cheat box
    - Type in testingcheatsenabled true
    - Shift + Left click onto the sim
    - Take into CAS (will not work on any sim wearing a career outfit or while pregnant.)

Er, sorry to clarify I want to force the sim to SWITCH their outfit they currently have on. Not change their outfit itself.

A lot of my non-active sims walk around in their career outfits and I'd like to see them walk around in their everyday wear instead.
  • The only thing I can think of is this mod:

You'd have to place it where ever you are having issues with sims in career outfits.
  • The best mod out there for that is the Mastercontroller by NRass Industries. It does that and so much more. You will never want to be without it. You click on the sim select NRass-Mastercontroller-basic-outfit-all their outfits will be there to choose from and they won't have to spin into them. They will just be wearing it. I use it a lot when the teens are having prom and they are going in in their work outfits. It also kept my teen from having a prom picture in her pajamas. If you do download it. Don't download the module that is mastercontroller progression. You only download that if you have NRass storyprogression mod which I do highly recommend. The Mastercontroller can edit your sim in everyway possible. Perfect to have is something goes wrong, you can fix it with the controller. I had a sim that turned into an elder and he was one level in his career from getting his lifetime wish. When he aged up, it reset his career to level one. It was easily fixed with the controller. It has been a lifesaver over and over again.

I use NRaas Master Controller mod and can take any sim at all into CAS and change their outfits. But, if the sim is in a work outfit and on the job, like housemaid or postman, etc., when they come out of the CAS, they will be wearing their job uniform. And therein lies the problem. But, it will change their outfits for times when they aren't working. Still, does the housemaid or postman appear very often when not working?

  • I think if you use Basic/outfit and change from there, they will change regardless if they are working or not because they don't spin into it. If you use that interaction on a sim that is outside in the cold and they don't have their outerwear on, they will be wearing it, but they will still get cold because it doesn't register with the game. It is also nice at weddings because it doesn't cancel the watch interaction because they don't have to spin. I'll try it on a maid when I play next time and see if they keep their everyday on or if they spin back into their uniform.

What you're describing is for the Sims 4. Toddler Care and Change Outfit are not options in the Sims 3 TCE menu.
