So I'm currently tolerating the pauses the way I tolerated Skyrim's pauses (at least Sims 3 doesn't routinely crash after them!), but before I try another IP run I'll probably fix the world as much as possible before starting. I'll still need to try the running a resort badges, after all!
If you want to, you can set resorts on any other worlds. And a smaller one would be preferable, as the resorts draw in extra NPCs, and, if you have World Adventures installed, they also draw in foreigners (Sometimes, familiar faces from previous travels!).
