You more or less have two try to work on as many things as possible, otherwise, things can be very lengthily!

Well, I just remembered that many NPCs "Aliens" being a game already in the "Elder" age, and all "Aliens" I've had tend to pass away quickly of old age. So, given your sim went through a pregnancy, I guess "Papa" might not be around for that long...

Unfortunately, besides: "When given a choice, try different options." and "Keep trying until your sim gets mauled by the
right bear..." there's not much I can say. When given a choice, try different option. Killing the moodlet with a cheat like you said will speed things up a bit.
