I guess you're lucky... Every single time I tried hosting any kind of special party, I got a message like "You can't host . Hopefully, your guest will be please with a houseparty, because that's all you're gonna get.". At one point, I even had bottom level of the houseboat completely empty, but the gift giving spawner never showed up.
