But I didn't collect hundreds of bottles. I had one sim do all the collecting of the bottles though. Some of the badges can be achieved with a variety of different sims and others require a single sim to do all the work.
I know it didn't happen when I had collected 10 bottles and I had to collect a few more and I wondered if it was looking for particular types of messages or something but never worked it out.
I did get a few bottles from diving and also from land but didn't keep track of how many I got from each location.
I got the badge a few months after IP was released so I can't now find out if the badge works or not now.
I don't think I found any bottles while diving this time. (Maybe I did get one that way but I'm not sure.)
