I think I've managed to confuse you, sorry. :s I had wiped everything EA and Origin related from my computer (registry and all). Reinstalled the games and stuff packs. Installing the store content is more work than I'm willing to do right now so I just decided to try for the badges instead.
Since starting to try for the badges, I've pulled out the EA folder and let it regenerate again. I Just deleted the one I pulled out since it doesn't have any content I'm interested in keeping right now. Is this what you're talking about?
If by "EA folder" you mean "\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\", you are correct, it's the one Karritz referred to. If you rather mean "Program Files (X86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\", then this folder was not the right one.
