Babysitter Issues

So I left my twin babies at home while the parents went to a Sim fest. A babysitter came over and I periodically would check up on them to see how they were doing. I have the gift for speech baby monitor so my babies are able to communicate their needs and get taken care of. The babysitter got up, put my baby on the floor, and played video games without taking care of him.

After hours of struggling, the babies were finally taken care of, but I really wish the babysitters in this game were better caretakers. It's almost better to take the babies everywhere but I can't because one Sim can't take two babies. Anybody else have babysitter issues?
  • I don't even use baby sitters anymore in this game. I can't even remember the last time I actually got a baby sitter who did their job properly. Usually they wait for the parents to leave, and then end up leaving the after wards leaving the child alone. If you don't mind a bit of cheating, what I do when I have more than one baby to take some there I will do this. First I will turn on this cheat testingcheatsenabled true, and then I will pause the game. I will then go to where I want my sims to be, and then teleport each sim I want in that location, and then I will start up the game. Then when I want to send everyone back home, I will again pause the game, and then teleport them back home again, and then start the game back up.
  • I won't hire a babysitter unless it's a toddler and their needs are pretty much perfect before my sims walk out of the house. The last time I had a sitter for an infant, the infant nearly starved to death. I will say that I miss the nanny that could be hired in The Sims 2. She was there every day during your working hours and took care of the children. Babysitters in TS3 are all teenagers, despite being needed during school hours. This definitely could have been handled better by developers, but I'm okay with it now that I know how to deal with it!
  • I suppose it's just like real life; sometimes babysitters are incompetent and sometimes they're amazing!

On my end, though, in my limited experience with using babysitters, I never had a problem. The parents had different work schedules, so there was an hour or two that they didn't overlap and the baby would be alone. So I'd hire a babysitter. The girl would always come over and take care of the baby's needs when necessary. Yes, she would watch TV or read or something. But she would get up when the baby cried or whatever and change its diaper or feed it or whatever it needed.
  • I take babies and toddlers with my sims the last time I trusted a babysitter they bailed the house and left the baby alone.

I've had good ones and bad ones. With the most recent babysitter, though, since I think it's s'tupid that all babysitters and maids are kleptomaniacs, I got rid of that trait with NRaas Master Controller. In its place, I gave him nurturing. He already had family oriented. He was a good babysitter. Of course, there was actually very little for him to do other than take care of the toddler, no computer, no sprinklers, just a bookcase and a TV. Within just a short time of his arrival, after her parents had left for work, he had picked up the toddler and spent pretty much the rest of the day tickling and tossing her in the air. This wasn't entirely a good thing, as I had planned on her spending some of that day reading a toddler skill book, as she was soon to age up. The next day, he let her have time for her book, while he watched TV near her. He did interact with her some that day, though. She aged up that night, so I didn't see any more of him.
  • I haven't had a good babysitter in a while. They turn on the radio, play on the computer, watch TV, and sometimes leave. If I leave the baby in the crib, walker, or baby swing? You can forget it. It's like they don't know how to pick the baby up!

I've had good and bad babysitters. Mostly bad. I usually try to avoid them.

At least I haven't lost any babies or toddlers to the babysitter. Occasionally a babysitter will go home and take the baby with them and the parents never see it again. I've seen quite a few people complaining about that and asking how they can get the baby back.
