Black screen when downloading custom content

Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue that have never happened to me before where, when I try to install custom content in launcher it comes up with another window that would normally have a loading screen for the installing but this loading screen never comes up and stays black. I've tried removing all of my content, uninstalling it and then reinstalling it but I can't reinstall it because the black screen comes up again, so having too much custom content isn't the issue.
Any help would be appreciated thanks!!
  • If this happened recently after downloading new cc it may be bad cc and may happen if you have too much cc as it adds more for the game to load. If you think it's from bad CC try the methods found here to narrow it down: http://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Finding_Problem_Custom_Content

If it continues then it's the second thing above. Perhaps @igazor might be of better help though if you need second opinions on how to fix it?

As Ruby said it could be that one or more of your cc files is corrupt or that you may have loaded too many in one go and some error took place during the transfer.

A third option is that you download Delphy’s Dashboard and vheck and make sure that you don’t have any TS4 or TS2 CC files in the mods folder.

This program will track down any conflicts in your mods folder and find any non-TS3 CC file that may be lurking in there

Believe me those TS4 cc files are sneaky little buggers. They’ll get into everything if you’re not careful when downloading. Ask me how I know ~smirk~.
  • You can try deleting the "downloadedsims.index" file in //Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/SavedSims folder.
