- I almost never mix fish species because apparently they can eat each other. Usually same species fish do well together.
- rlc77Seasoned ObserverI had this happen when I mistakenly put goldfish and black goldfish in the same tank. All the goldfish started disappearing. It took me a while to figure out they were being eaten by the black goldfish.
- rlc77Seasoned ObserverYes, the regular goldfish are the preferred bait of the black goldfish. I did not think of that before I put them together. :#
- NikkeiSimmerNew AdventurerThey definitely do in RL...
 RIP Kiyo (the orange goldfish). My Black Moor goldfish kept nibbling his tail.
http://blackmoorgoldfish.org/ - rlc77Seasoned ObserverOh, poor Kiyo. I thought the orange and black goldfish would look so nice together in the aquarium. Big mistake!
- Oh wow, so in TS3, fish in the same tank can eat other fish… such a cute little detail! I learn something new about the game every time I visit this forum :D
On another note, I am starting to worry… one of my Sims has “Presenting the Perfect Private Aquarium” as her lifetime wish, but I chose to use a few big fish tanks to hold the fish as I didn’t want lots of fish bowls scattered around the house. So… did I put my goldfish with my black goldfish? Did I put my shark with my red herring?
Uh oh.
Now I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. So I shall do both. :joy: - karritzNew Spectator@TinySpaceFox on the positive side, pairs of fish in at least one of the aquariums will breed and you'll get baby fish. That can be quite lucrative if you choose to breed some of the more expensive fish. I'm not sure which aquarium(s) do that. I've tried a couple and got babies in both of them. The babies are actually the same size as their parents - you just notice extra fish swimming around. I know one of the breeder aquariums comes with a stuff pack.
When I did that lifetime wish I used lots of small bowls. Set up a room specially for the purpose, when the whish was achieved I got rid of them all. That might have been because I did it back when we only had the one fish bowl and no big aquariums. - The one is the High End Loft Aquarium @Karritz and @TinySpaceFox that will breed fish and I believe if you actually sit and watch you will see the fish get the dust cloud and stars like when sims fight mummies and the eaten fish goes bye bye.So they do battle.
- Cannibalism! I had no idea this good happen but love it.
(not cannibalism but having to take care what fish to put together :p ) - rlc77Seasoned ObserverI'm currently using the tropical aquarium that came with the Serenity Retreat. I added two seahorses that my sim caught while diving and they have been multiplying. I much prefer that to the cannibalism! I always use the fishbowls for the the perfect aquarium lifetime wish.
