Game Crashing after 5 minutes of gameplay (real time) - screen frozen, clock stopped, sims frozen...

Have to go to CTRL-ALT-DEL to Task Manager and shut process down...and this is happening quite often now. I'm figuring that the R5 Integrated Chip is on its way out. EPs (only EP that I don't have is Showtime); SPs (High End Loft Stuff only).

  • Well, got my CC back into the game. Will attempt to play the game that I was playing before...and see if finding the fact that I had 3 TS2 files in there was what carked up the game before. Thank you Delphy's Dashboard... Otherwise I wouldn't have known that they were TS2 meshes. I gotta watch what I download and put in. Playing on windowed mode so that I can access CoreTemp...
  • Testing the Bunker save before saying that the "problem is all fixed..." - Found three TS2 hair packages that were, I believe, the root of the crashing issue with Delphy's Dashboard....and removed them. I'm sure the program was reading those files...trying to make sense of them...couldn't so it crashed. But I'll play the save at least 45 minutes and see if anything else crops up. It appears that the game is much smoother now as far as scrolling and is not prone to lag...which I believe the root cause of that issue too was those TS2 hair packages.

Edit: OK...this time it froze about an hour and a half into playing the game...in real time...
  • If it's really going to take 90 real time minutes to reproduce the freeze now, this makes things more complicated to troubleshoot. Yes, of course the game is not going to react well to TS2 package files being shoved at it. Might there be more of this kind of thing in play? Or even recently added proper TS3 content that is passing the Dashboard test but still slowly acting up in-game? Emphasizing recently since this entire issue is being described as something that is new and never happened on such a regular basis before.

And to repeat a prior answer I would still be happy to look at your script logs, but not the ones from before where the game was trying to grapple with TS2 content because those would now not provide very useful information.
  • I've did another game refresh...and started putting everything in slowly again in smaller batches into a Temp folder. If it runs for 90 -120 minutes with those CC then they go into the game-specific CC folder. At least that's how I'm going to have to do this from now on...so that I can isolate the one that's giving me problems.

IF it isn't a problem CC causing the freeze, then I'm going to have to say that it's a corrupted game and deep-six that particular save, and start over.
  • I played 2+ hrs on the test save with all CC in without replicating the freeze. So something tells me that the cause of the freezing is a corrupt save. If so, I'm going to ditch the corrupt saves and start the story over again from the point where the sims end up in Sunset Valley.
  • @Nikkei_Simmer - Good luck on your progress. Do you put your mods in a Testing level of priority in your game? I've found it very handy. I do not use many sim3packs of user made CC, and practically nothing from TSR touches my TS3 game's 'lips'.

These are some of the priority levels I use in my Resource.cfg and I have not had had issues with this level of priority scoring.
Makes it faster to pull things in testing out when I suspect a problem. I've had no conflicts with Awesomemod, the NRAAS I use and any of Shimrod's mods.

    Resource.cfg

    Priority 1000 (Overrides)
    PRIORITY 800 (AWES)...
    PRIORITY 700 (NRAAS)...
    Priority 500 (Packages)...
    Priority 500 (DCCache)
    Priority 499 (Test)...
    Priority -50 (Probation)...

I'll look and see what the priority settings are in my resource.cfg file. And the offending ones were packages. :D I got out of the habit of using Sims3packs for all but store stuff and worlds. :D
  • I do use a lot of custom worlds. I run them through Custard and Delphy installer before adding them. I tend to stick to well known world builders. So far so good. (fingers, toes and eyes crossed)
