Playing entire neighborhood for first time - questions

So for the first time since TS3 came out, I am playing an entire neighborhood and doing it rotationally (THANK YOU @igazor!). I created 6 founding families and got them moved in to 6 cheap houses. I've got a few questions:

* I don't want my families to incorporate super naturals into the blood lines but it kind of seems like the neighborhood is filling up with them. If I turn off the supernatural beings in the settings, will it just slow down the population or will it mess things up since the neighborhood is already up and running?
* If people hang around outside when the zombies are out, can they get attacked and become zombies? It seems like an awful lot of the NPCs in the town are zombies. Last time my Sim went to the hospital, there were 6 zombies hanging around outside the door.
* As my families start to have increased income, they could move into more expensive houses. It seems like the houses are filling up with NPCs. Can I safely move NPC families out of the houses (evict) to free them up for my growing families? Does this mess with relationships?
* I will check this myself when I get started playing today but are there premade houses that come with the game that can be plopped down on empty lots? Like TS2 had?
* My second gen is just now being born but eventually they will be college age. I've never played University. In rotational play, does University just become another rotation meaning the families at home go into the Caste and the University becomes the active household? If so, can I move a group of kids to University so they go to school together?
* When I created my 6 founding families, I had specific careers in mind for them. One of my Sims was designed to be a criminal. After he got moved into a house and his spouse was getting to know him, she had the option to ask about his degree. I then noticed that my criminal had a degree in architecture or something. How did that happen? Is it a random thing?
* Does going to University and getting a degree give the Sim extra spiffs like TS2?

I am off work this week so sorry if I over load you guys with questions. Finally breaking down and installing Naass(sp?) has created a whole new game for me to play.
  • Some things that happen at university don't follow through to the homeworld even with traveler. I had my were sim convert his best buddy to a were and on his count for conversions (his lifetime wish) it was 1/5, but, when they went back home it was 0/5 so didn't count anymore even though his buddy was still a werewolf. :( So, I'm careful now to not try to do things in uni or vacation worlds that go towards lifetime wishes if they are not going to count. With MC I was able to change his buddy back to a human and have him bite him again in the homeworld, and it counted that time. I just ignored the second bite in the story.

@Rhiannon58 Usual stuff after vacations for me were broken or stuck pregnancies, bugged out objects on the home lot (beds etc.), mixed up clothes (my sims lose their career outfits on every vacation), etc. A town reset was often necessary after a vacation. Interestingly, university visits sometimes fixed the broken career outfits. Good on you if you never had issues like that.

I won't use any young again potions. I think I've only used one EVER and that was because I had one of my Sims marry a Sim she had met, only to find out he was almost a senior (she was young adult). I didn't consider it a cheat since there is no way to figure out how old someone is until you move them in.

Technically sims might not be aware of exactly how old everyone else around them is unless it's their birthday that day and such has already been announced. But I won't even have a proper conversation with someone (slight exaggeration) without knowing their exact age. MasterController and Tagger have me totally spoiled. ;)

That's interesting. I take it you initiate this via the "travel" menu, not the "enroll" menu?

What would be the advantage of using Nrass Traveler over just moving those student Sims into a house together and sending them all the University at the same time? That's truly not a criticism. It's me trying to understand how this all works.

One addition: Looks as if even Traveler won't help if you use a "Young Again" potion during a trip. The game doesn't know what to do with your younger sims when you return home and asks you to setup a new game.

Heh, checking the age of other sims was, in the beginning, my main use of MC, ever since I found out that my sim's wife was quite a bit older than my sim. On epic timescale, that can be quite a difference.

Of course, nowadays, I just change the age to what I need.
