Question about architectural designer

So I thought I'd finally give a profession a go. What I do to sims houses, that will save? That is, if I visit there later, everything I did on that job will be there they'll have any items I put there and stuff? It saves in the household?

I'm thinking this is a good way to renovate people's houses and get them new cool stuff without cheating in edit town, since they can't buy new stuff themselves

  • Yes, that's true. The changes are permanent unless you get another job in the same house.
  • Wow excellent. I've actually never really bothered with the professions before. ARchitectural designer here i come then, be a nice way to spruce up the world's residences :D
  • I love the career however it can be a bit glitchy, especially with your car.Yeah I said your car lol.For some reason the car gets stuck or disappears in the house your renovating. And also if the home your renovating doesn’t have the basic necessities(bed fridge toilet etc) you will get a bad grade even if they didn’t ask for those items

Will keep that in mind thanks :)

and don't talk to me about cars. i asked my boyfriend to move in, or rather my sim asked her boyfriend to move in.

he keeps stealing her car and selling it. i've bought 3 so far, now i keep it in her inventory instead of the drive -_-

i can't figure out hte nraas settings to stop npc household sims from doing that (i like to only control one sim at a time so anyone else in my household i use debugger to mark them as NPCs so they can get on with their own thing lol)
  • ah now i see what you mean. i have unclickable items in my family inventory now (camera, multitab, car) that i can't click on or drag :/

i've tried using reset object and move object to inventory under MC to no avail. damnit nothing is ever simple :D
  • okay, i am loving.. LOVING this profession. i can't believe i've never tried it before! before i would periodically go into edit town and spruce places up here and there but it's hard to always know who needs what and where all the time.

like people who have babies but no kids stuff, or pets with no food bowl *shudders*

now i get to fix all that and my sim gets paid for it, bonus :D
  • My favorite part of that profession is when you move the bunk beds around a bit and maybe toss in an additional painting to add a little feng to the property's shui even if that has nothing to do with the assigned task and suddenly your sim gets yelled at by the customer, "How am I supposed to live in such SQUALOR?"! (probably because now the game isn't counting the sleeping slots and getting the same total as before).

It's infuriating, makes no sense, and fun all at the same time.

But if I get assigned to figure out how to get an outdoor swimming pool onto one more 10x15 lot with a fussy three story townhouse on it, my sim is giving it all up and joining the military. :rage: :p

 And here I thought the fourth story infinity pool comes into play. I mean, you don't have to live there  .

yes i have a sim who keeps saying "i cannot live in this squalor" when i designed his gym beautifully and i can't figure out what he wants :( i've checked everything off the list and then some. idk what else i can do
  • There are some sims you can never please. You can keep buying more and more stuff, and they still aren't happy. I think it has to do with their traits. It's best to refuse any future jobs with those clients. But you also have to be friends with them for them to like the job you did. Also, be aware that if you go over budget, your sim will be paying for anything over budget from their own household funds.
