Question About Computer Specs

Hiii! So I have a question (sorry, I know I tend to ask a lot of questions regarding computers). Basically, my sister is looking to invest in a computer to run The Sims 3 on. She wants to be able to have The Sims 3 with a lot, if not all, of the expansions at a decent graphics setting. Keep in mind, this includes Seasons and Island Paradise. She found a potential computer, but I'm not very good at reading specs:
Item
iBUYPOWER - Gaming Desktop - Intel Core i7-9700F - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER - 1TB HDD + 480GB Solid State Drive - Black
Do any of you guys know how well this would handle Sims 3 with lots of expansions, most probably quite a bit of CC (knowing her), and on a decent graphics setting? Thank you!

    > Any modern graphics card you buy today (including RTX 2060) Sims 3 will not recognize because the game is no longer being patched to add these cards. Rest assured, the game will still use the card. There should be no problem... The only important thing is to make sure when your sister gets everything set up, to turn on vertical sync in the graphic cards control panel. Vertical sync locks framerate to whatever the monitor can put out. Sims is not a game that will benefit from extra frames and letting those frames run wild often causes issues so we always recommend vertical sync for this game.

Would you know how to do that by any chance?
  • @velvetunderground What kind of graphics card do you have? Do you play in fullscreen, windowed, or both at different times? What type of install is this: Origin, disc, or Steam? There are several different ways to limit your in-game framerates, but not all tools work on all setups.

If you'd like help getting your graphics card recognized, please go into Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3, open the file labeled deviceconfig.log, copy the first 40 lines (stop at "Options"), and paste them into a post here.

i play in fullscreen, through origin, and i have the same graphics card as mentioned above, RTX 2060
I will try getting my graphics card recognized. Thank you
  • @velvetunderground If you have trouble getting your graphics card recognized, feel free to ask for help. More important though is manually limiting your in-game framerates. An Nvidia 2060 is fast enough to generate fps in the hundreds at least, and that's not good for the long-term health of the card. This is a good guide to using the built-in Nvidia Control Panel; screenshots are under the first spoiler.

Since you play through Origin, be sure to use TS3.exe (not TS3W) to create the profile for Sims 3. If it doesn't work, there are other options too, but this is the easiest approach.
