So sorry for your loss :(. If you don't already have one, you may want to invest in a large capacity thumb drive or an external HDD and dedicate it solely as a back-up drive. You could back up your Sims, Store Purchases, Builds, Mods and CC (as well as saved games) to avoid such a loss again.

So sorry to hear that. :( 4th gen on super epic is pretty far! No warning whatsoever or obvious signs it was giving out? Some places can still recover info from a dead drive but it's not cheap.

Whenever you get the game running again on a new drive... make sure to export your NRaas settings. Overwatch allows you to export/import NRaas mod settings from the various collcetion of mods.

yeah i'm never gonna forget to backup again. oh well, got nraas setup again. here's my sim playing darts with her first new friend. i'll add families and empty houses to the world tomorrow :dizzy:

Sorry that happened as well. This observation probably doesn't help much, but I suspect the habit of backing things up somehow and at least somewhat regularly comes more naturally to those of us who lost days, weeks, or more of work/school product and had to re-create it all back when systems and even network servers were so much less reliable than they are today. I ran into this kind of thing while working on a huge user manual spanning many chapters decades ago and don't think I ever did manage to remember and re-create all of the random changes I had made for a few days while jumping around what was at time the current version that got lost.

Our games, sims, and content stores are like really big spreadsheets/databases, except with lots of moving parts, and those of us who have gone through the pain of lost data way in the past might be more likely to protect what we have created once we stop and think about how painful it might be to suddenly lose it all. It's a really difficult lesson to learn the hard way, though. :/

I felt like you when I lost a save to corruption after a child was taken away by the game social worker before I learned to play Modded.I also had one time a Sims 3 folder got corrupted from updating Mods the wrong way and had to extract my 7zip Electronic Arts folder to recover my Sims 3 folder.

I'm actually enjoying my fresh start now. I don't have the will to go epic again though so I'm just going long with the sliders all the way up.

I feel your pain as well. I had a 100 baby challenge and I got to 93 babies before the motherboard broke in the computer. I was gutted, I spend ages on it. :(

That's so awful!! I just had to reinstall my game and hadn't backed up since like May.. I didn't have as long in my family as you, but I definitely feel your pain. Gonna start backing up every time I play for more than an hour now.

I'm so sorry you lost your old save. Back when I first started playing TS3, I lost a handful of saves to game corruption in a short period of time, and it was brutal. I felt so awful that if I hadn't come across NRaas, I'd probably have quit playing TS3 for a while, or maybe for good. I can only imagine how gut-wrenching it must have been to realize you'd lost sims with whom you'd spent over a year.

I'm glad to see that you're still enjoying the game, though. Starting a brand-new save can be so much fun, especially when things start to fall into place for your sim. From the thought bubbles, it seems like you're not the only one who thinks that guy is a catch—your sim was dreaming of wedding rings after their first night together, and before she even found out that he'd done the laundry.
