Running For School Bus

I'm playing what started as a homeless sim game. No collecting etc. The family has to survive and build their home from the proceeds of novel writing. They are finally ramping up, but they still have no bathroom. Usually, they hit the pool and shower etc before going home to sleep (now that they have cheap temporary beds on a mostly empty lot). There was some stuff going on after school yesterday, so they didn't make it to the pool and the kids are all stinky and gross. The pool is near the school. I sent them out to the pool first thing in the morning, then to school. The school bus showed up at the house and the kids stopped heading to school and started running for the school bus. I can't cancel the school bus command. It took them 4 hours to run all the way home to catch the bus and were very late for school. This has happened before in other games.

HOW DO I STOP IT?
