This just happened to me last night and I can't remember the last time I've had the household thumbnail disappear. The save loads fine (no tents in WA chest). I'm not sure what's causing this but it could be because of such a large household (12). I've been told on tumblr by a few people that they also have had this happen but the save continue to work just fine. So far, that's been my experience too.
I have 22 in my current household and only a few of the sims show up at all. The save seems to play fine though. I've never had the household thumbnail empty though.
Tents in chests will cause the lot thumbnail to go blank, not the household thumbnail, at least in my experience.- xxnearlyperfectxNew Spectator

@kaitlyn0 -That sounds like a social worker might've taken an inactive family's baby, toddler or child away and the sim wasn't fully deleted as I had that corrupt a few older saves and it corrupted once from the social worker taking my family's baby.I had problems where my sims couldn't get to work or stay at work when they got there and that glitch happened when my family's baby was taken with the mum.
That has been proven may times over to be false. When a Social Worker takes a baby from the household the game ages the baby up to child and places it the Service Pool."xxnearlyperfectx;c-16337891" wrote:

I’ve heard this too as some simmers have adopted kids that have their kids names that were taken away...and they look like the parents.
I always remember when the babysitter took one of the toddlers.
I’ve heard horror stories about that too! I’m actually doing an experiment with 4 pregnant Claire Ursines in a brand new SV save to see if I can have someone else in town adopt one of the 4 babies that will be taken away...(I’m really bored!! ;) )."TadOlson;c-16338688" wrote:
That social worker situaltion used to transfer that child into the adotion pool in TS2 though that was reported to have been changed in TS3 though it is possible to get an adopted child that might look like some of your sims if you're using NRaas for story progression to influance genetics of immigrant NPC's and adoption pool children.I've heard of others losing saves to corruption after children were taken away by social workers in TS3.I even lost three saves to corruption from that myself in Sims 3 though it never happened in TS2 without me exiting the lot without saving and reloading.
There is a bug in the game that causes rabbithole door jigs to spawn continuously (albeit it's an uncommon one but some seem to get it more often than others Twallan fixed that with OW) preventing sims from getting to work. Most likely that's what you had happen although the timing of it happening at around the time the Social Worker took the baby seems ominous it had nothing to do with the Social Worker. The only other thing that could cause it is if you had mods in play and they were conflicting all over each other slowing churning and wreaking the innards of your game.
*Edit*
That was ErrorTrap Twallan had fixed the bug with not OW.- I'm going to have to agree that the social worker taking the kids away scenario does not by itself indicate or cause game corruption no matter how much one player here insists that it does. Granted it's not a scenario most players want to have happen (guess there could be some exceptions), it's not always understood well by all players especially those who switch active households without mod protection, it can sometimes really be forced culling in what the game mistakenly thinks is an overpopulated world or an out of balance population, but from all reports this is a facet of the game that generally does work as intended at least on current patch levels.
The babysitter waltzing off with a baby or toddler in their arms right before our eyes when the adults come home can't really have been intended, that almost has to be a bug in the game though thankfully I've never seen it, but it's not really corruption either and is not difficult to prevent if the player is paying attention and steps in if it's about to happen. - You try to save a household to the library and it will not save, one of your Sims is corrupted, or that is a sure fire way I can tell in my game.
- graceymanorsRising HotshotYou look at your save file and the sim's photo is all messed up or their lot isn't showing.

For example, the Vanderburg sim is showing up, but her lot image isn't.This isn't my pic, but it did happen to me the other day, and it caused my lot to keep flashing, I had to bulldoze the lot, replace it and save as instead of save. - What does it mean to have a corrupted save? What makes a save corrupted?
- I had one save where Claire Ursine had died of electrocution and her baby got taken by the game's NPC social worker just before it started to get corrupted with my toddler ending up in law enforcement and his older sisiter was in the military while their parents were suddenly too young for careers and the grandparents were both elementary school students. It totally messed up that save to have had that baby removed by the social worker.Another corrupted save I had got that way after my family's baby got taken by the social worker and adults started shrinking to toddler height with adult sized heads and their interactions were wrong liek toddler or pet interactions.I had one toddler in that save able to be directed to do adult interactions which was a sure sign that save was corrupted and the UI failure was the last sign before it would only load partway and give a message stating the save was too corrupted to load.
I had one save where my family trees got messed up and started showing pets, vehicles and even household objects after a child got taken away by the game social workers beacuse he was failing at school.
