Same! I feel like I'm missing out on so much simply because I don't know the content exists.- suzsesSeasoned NewcomerHow do you usually play now? I think you play families from your post. There are just so many things you can do with this game, but it's hard to know where to start. Like, if you usually put your sims in rabbit hole professions, try out self employment, business ownership, or the ambitions careers which are more hands on. If you usually play in the city, try a farming household in the country, or if the opposite, play someone in a showtime career in the city. If you don't usually play supernaturals or only one or two kinds, try one you haven't yet played.
I'm kind of into building towns up from empty, as in starting with a map that has no houses or community lots placed (which is hardly new for me), but in the past couple weeks, I grabbed a sim and went to Oasis Landing instead because I hadn't explored that content yet at all. It was a lot of fun, but this week I'm back to my town building project. - Bettyboop55New SpectatorDoes the exploration have to be gameplay. I wonder whether a building project might be of interest. Putting your sim family into a world you have created is something I am trying at the moment. The world building bit is slow and frustrating but there is a great sense of satisfaction. Other things on my list is running a resort for which I might build another small world.
- JaletuNew RookieWell, I can only tell you what I did. Hope you find it helpful.
I took my favorite sim, Jasmine Anubis, and aged her down to a toddler. I then gave her parents and put them in my favorite house in Sunset Valley. I was going to age her up slowly and try a bunch of stuff I never tried. Like, giving her an invisible playmate and using those treehouses. Teaching her to drive as a teenager, etc.
Things did not go to plan! Her IF doll became real and was her sister (intentional by me, cause I wanted to see that). Her dad got abducted by aliens and had a baby! (definitely not intentional) So she had this alien sister who doesn't really want to be friends. She didn't age up well (I missed getting her to walk by sim minutes) and then she was given the slob trait! The prom was a big bust. Presently, I'm still trying to get Jasmine and her sister, Pal, to learn to drive. It was and is a real eye opener. - @Sims_for_life
I tend to play different styles of games in different worlds...I also play my sims on epic lifetime stages so i have enough time to do all the things I want in one family..
Bridgeport or other similar custom style city worlds would be for my stars including the showtime careers as well as the rock star and movie star careers that came with Bridgeport.. so I would start out as a single sim usually male and progress quite high in the chosen career then find an opposite star to marry and have kids so this would mean singer/rock star movie star/acrobat etc then as the kids came along and grew up they would diverse into the careers the parents do not have so in the end I have one big family each in a different showtime/star type career and their lives would be considered rich and famous vising exclusive lounges and bars etc..My vamps are around and I like to play them in these careers they have their own special "clubs"-)
I also have dance mods so I usually set up a dance studio and theater where dancers train and perform.. and a microphone with animations that looks like you sim is singing infront of which looks good in band play situations..
In a dark concrete like jungle of a city I will play a criminal family surrounded by families in poverty and a negative environment if you do get your sim to the top of the actual rabbithole criminal career your sim will glow red and most other sims will runaway from them afraid so make sure you get married prior to reaching the top of that career lol I mainly play quite a seedy lifestyle for this one and have a lot of cc related to criminal paraphernalia.. The vamps in this world kill without impunity and control other sims minds to the extreme, most hit men in this style of game play are vamps as they can kill easily..but a lot of fun can also be had with captives of vamps who have no resistance to anything the vamp wants to make them do especially for the laughs of an audience.. if your sims are really poor the klepto trait will help for stealing and selling stuff thieved from other sims.. A lot of fighting in this environment also ensues due to the lack of sims owning/having anything much to call their own..
Appaloosa Plains or similar custom world is where I play my farming families who own and train a lot of animals, cook, bake, fish, garden and collect world gems, insects and objects. This is where I use the store content such as Grandma's Canning Station, bakers station etc and use the world consign store to buy and sell a lot of goods. It takes a lot of time to train the animals who can even hunt when they have a high enough skill, the kids grow up looking after smaller animals in cages, selling lemonade and having bake sales.. this is my very family grass roots with animals play style world when I feel i want to immerse myself in that theme.
I often send this type of family to the world adventure vacations as they love to explore, collect and fish..
Lunar Lakes store world is where my nerd science robotics sims live in colorful alien looking houses and concentrate on all things science and inventing, collecting space rocks etc..the sims from this world are the ones that travel to into the future a lot because both worlds are similar..
I play Lucky Palms as it is sold like a Las Vegas casino style world surrounded by fun things to do this world is full of bars, discos, golf courses, poolside lounges, horse farms for racing horses, saunas, spas, anything you can think of that constitutes a good time lol If I am playing a family in this world they are usually nerds or athletes for some reason and I always send them on to university..
Using the Nrass Traveler mod a lot of my stars travel to this world for their vacations.. and Island paradise
I play Aura skies as an ice Elvin type fantasy world world full of castles, hot air balloons and various looking sims that look the part in that environment..
Midnight Hollow is my wacky mad scientist world where anything goes and no science is too dangerous a thing to try and build regardless of any consequences-) lots of mad genius types live here hiding their real identities so not what i would call a normal life is lived there-)
Again using the Nrass Traveler mod EA store world hidden springs is my winter themed vacation world where sims go to ski and take part in all winter sports and visit santa's toy store with their kids where they can buy and make their own toys. There is also a winter themed nectar barn where sims can purchase and taste quality produced nectar..The town has it's own winter market festival where kids can ride the carousel, roast marshmallows.. and drink hot chocolate..There is a spa and masseur high in the mountains overlooking the rest of the world so is a wonderful winter themed vacation.
Moonlight falls really like this world and love the atmospheric skies and general feel of the world itself.. I like mixing and matching my couples so wolves/witches fairies and vampires as then both sides bring something different to the relationships and genetics play well in their ensuing children. For some reason I play with genies alone or often add one to the household if playing room mates style as they are great at using their powers to clean up and fix everything lol I have to say though I have moved on to @Rflong7's supernatural custom world to play this sort of style now because the world has been created with various supernaturals in mind so there is a fantastic moody walled vampire area, a farm area, fairy area, supernatural witch/wolf style area, a pirate area, fairy area plus a wonderful area for mermaids.. and a beach with a tropical resort so any style of play is catered for in this world. if you are in interested take a look on the following link there is also some pics.. I have downloaded a ton of extra CC to play in this world such as massive dragons, animated potion stalls and lots of other things that really enhance the world and the game play. I could not leave without mentioning @Hidehi who has made and shared some fantastic lots for this world.

My other most favorite world is Island paradise and while it is known to have lag for some players after following some instructions from the lovely @ciane I have found I can play fine now.. This is where life is all about the water sports, boating diving and other beach activities/parties, good looking life guards, mermaids and becoming the owner of your own resort.. I love this play style and play a lot in this world..
The other worlds I have not mentioned is not because I do not like or enjoy them it is just I find my particular play style is in the worlds listed above as they are most suited to what I am trying to achieve but I know @Karritz has created some wonderful game play scenarios using CC in Dragon Valley that looks fab proving there is so much you can create and achieve in this series she has also helped me immensely by providing me with instructions on how to make or build something I would like in my worlds but did not know how to do it. I find after playing this series for 8 years I have still not done everything I want or know everything about the game itself lol If you are prepared to add mods and CC to your game to get the desired result that will make it awesome but even if you do not want to go that route the series is very playable without it :)
One last mention if you have never tried it have a family of eight kids, teens, mom and dad all with opposite traits and buy a teeny 20x20 lot for them, put one back wall up with a short roof place 2-3 park benches in there.. put a fire pit on there, and one maybe 2 showers where a sims can shower and go to the loo at the same time.. use all their money so they have nothing left so they will have to eat marshmallows constantly or fish they have caught or veg they have harvested somewhere in the community and sit back and watch the fun while they all try and nap on the benches at the same time or try to sit at the fire pit at the same time when they were hungry or them all trying to use the shower at once.. I gave a couple of the sims the klepto trait so they would go out stealing but this was hilarious to watch not much game play required just watch what goes on until you get fed up of it or feel so sorry for them you end up buying them a normal house lol
I hope you have a lot of fun and come back and let us know your own game play style :) - JaletuNew Rookie@SPARKY1922 , those are some great idea! Going to borrow some of that...
- @jaletu2005
Looking back at that post I must have been in for writing a novel today lol glad you found some of the ideas interesting one thing I started to realize is that there is so much content to go at with this series encompassing limitless game play scenarios and i would be trying to do everything in one world with one household in one go almost then when I decided to design one world for one theme at a time and play them separately I got so much more enjoyment out of that and much less stress-)
Also thank you for your creative builds I have several of yours downloaded that i use in my games.. :) - JaletuNew Rookie@SPARKY1922 Aww! That is so sweet! And yes, there is so much to do in this game. Breaking it up, so to speak, is a much better way to go.

I've tried building and I'm honestly the worst at it- I never know where to start haha."SPARKY1922;c-16618898" wrote:

Thank you for your detailed reply! I currently have a teenager who is expecting, so the spa sounds really interesting. I'm considering making her a klepto (like mentioned) as shes going to be some badass girl who steals to provide for her baby. As I'm a family player, I dont want to steer too far, so i'm going to incorporate some of your amazing suggestions. Thank you!
