As far as my understanding goes, the primary spouse is supposed to be one that's unplayed, previously. You could always go over to Pinstar's Sims4 Legacy Rules site and ask over there. But, if you desire to give your tree a bit of a twist, then no one (I doubt) will give you a hard time over it. It's not like the Legacy Challenge Police will come arrest you. ;)
Haha, no, that's true of course. I just generally suck at sticking out a family for more than three or four generations, and I suck at playing by any and all rules that I set for myself, so I want to challenge myself to do the Legacy Challenge completely by the book. I might bend the townie rule just that once, though, so I can play the story that I want.
