NotAeGirl941 New games don't include four years of expansions in their price. If you add up all the DLC that eventually gets released, the cost is often much higher in the end, at least for popular games with a player base that sticks around for that long.
And I don't think it's greedy to want money for a product. If you don't want to pay, then don't; if enough people don't, prices will drop, as long as that's sustainable. That's how capitalism works. But it appears that enough people DO think the prices are reasonable to keep buying content.
