What Are The Best Setting For NRAAS Relativity Mod?

OPINION and SUGGESTIONS:
I've installed the Relativity Mod (nraas) and would like to know what the best settings are.

What I'd like to alter:

  • A Sim hour equivalent to real time minute.
  • Increasing certain skills.
  • Increasing certain motives.

Thanks!

  • @igazor I expect someone to come to my house and do it for me. Is that too much to ask? ;)

We tried that. But the shipping agents who sent staff members to players' houses kept leaving us in unopened boxes all sealed up either by the wrong doors or when the players weren't home. We lost a lot of staff that way. :'(
  • You need to make sure the staff have air holes in their shipping containers ! Gosh, how irresponsible of the post.
  • hmmm, I wondered about that smell coming from the box left on the porch of the empty house next door. Maybe that was my lost shipment. I hope that wasn't Chain!
  • I think it was the lack of a sufficient food/water supply and the bit about where some of them had to be split up into three shipments (some reassembly required on the other end) that was doing them in...it was difficult to tell in between all the yelling and crying we had to hear from the recipients when they finally did find the packages. :/

@bekkasan - We'd have been in a lot of trouble if we dispatched him that way, but not to worry. Someone claiming to be him is alive, well, and just released a slew of updates to the mods' beta testing versions the other day. :)
  • Hi!

@igazor thank you so much for all of the amazing advice you've given on this thread. It definitely helped me with a bunch of my questions about nraas relativity. I've got one more prob and I'm hoping someone can help me out..

I set the speed at 19 which is working great for me; my sims finally have time in their day to do things! However, when it comes to their sleeping and working I find myself waiting and waiting...It takes too long! Does anyone else have this problem? Also, my sims are getting tired really early in the day.

I looked on the nraas wiki and was confused about motive decay and delta; I think they have something to do with it.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  • @birdman11grand - If a speed of 19 turns out to make things happen too slowly in real time for you, try something more like 23 or 26. The differences will be subtle, but noticeable for many of us.

Motive Decay adjusts how quickly sims' motives deplete during the day and when they engage in activities that deplete these motives faster (like jogging or exercise when it comes to energy). Values higher than 1 will cause motives to deplete faster. Values under 1, slower. So if your sims are losing energy too quickly, try a Decay factor less than 1 like 0.75. Or maybe 0.60. If you take this too far, you will know because sims won't be tired yet when it's time to go to bed even if they got up early in the morning.

Motive Delta adjusts how quickly sims' motives replenish. Values higher than 1 will make them replenish faster. Values under 1, slower. If your sims are sleeping an entire night and not getting their energy replenished whereas they were before (so it's not poor quality beds or something else like being totally in the red and buzz crashed at bedtime doing this), try a Delta factor higher than 1 like 1.25 or maybe 1.40.

These factors will often take some trial and error before we get them exactly the way we want and different players' needs will vary -- for example on hunger, do we want to feed our sims full meals 1, 2, or 3x per day? But it's best to get the overall speed of Relativity adjusted so that it "feels right" first or else the Decays and Deltas will have to also keep being readjusted along the way.
