Hi
I just tried to install the update and got this message:
"The setup has detected that no version of The Sims 3 is installed.
This update requires that a previous version of the application be installed."
This is just really wierd because I was playing University Life just last night and I can't play that if I don't have the base game installed.
I don't understand why it's saying that.
I clicked the box next to "run custom content" in the launcher and updated Origin, but the update still won't install.
HELP!!!!!!!!
I've seen this before. There's a conflict between your last patch and this patch. This is how you fix it.
Reinstall the base game to see if this solves the issue. No need to reinstall EPs; these will stay installed and working. Follow the steps.
Move the The Sims 3 folder from (My) Documents\Electronic Arts\ to the Desktop. (You already did this.)
Uninstall base game
Run registry cleaner
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Install base game
Patch the game
http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/175477.page
Run the game make sure it works
Exit game
Test game
Delete The Sims 3 folder in (My) Documents\Electronic Arts\
Move The Sims Folder from your Desktop to (My) Documents\Electronic Arts\
Test game
