2023 Sims 3 Into The Future physical copy update failure

I am trying to install my Sims 3 games via physical discs I bought about 10 years ago. Some expansions download fine or after retrying from cyclical redundancies errors a few times. Sims 3 Into the Future on the other hand requires I update the game and after about 20 minutes of it seeming like it's downloading the update an error window shows up that says, "Update of the Sims 3 failed, Setup is unable to continue." And you can only press okay or close the window then it all shuts down the process. 

This happens even when I don't have any other expansion installed and the game launcher says my version is 1.0.631.00001

I'm on windows 10 and this is the same laptop I used to play the games 10 years ago. 

Any thoughts?

    Okay, let me see if I understand...

    You're reinstalling with discs and trying to update through the launcher itself, and it's coughing up errors?

    My suggestion is to download and install the Super Patcher on its own (to patch level 1.67), not through the launcher. I just reinstalled my game, too (up through SN), and I installed using this method: https://help.ea.com/en/help/the-sims/the-sims-3/the-sims-3-super-patcher/

    From my understanding, when you have patch 1.67 or 1.69, you can reinstall your EPs in any order, but when you don't that's when you start having issues, because each EP needs to be patched before you can add the next one.
