29.6kb? Seriously EA, seriously? How about giving us some bandwidth to download what we pay you for?

Why is it that I get a paltry 29.6kb/sec download on Origin for the games that I've bought but on services like steam I get 2.4MB/sec download sppeds on tghe games that I've bought.

It's now going on almost a full 24 hours trying to download the sims 3 and some expansions which if on steam would have been done with ALL of them in maybe 5 hours, now going on almost 24 hours trying to get the games that I've payed EA for.

How about opening up some bandwidth EA.  You can't expect for me to keep buying games from you if it's going to take 24 or more hours just to get those games.

I'm pretty fed up at this point.

  • I didn't find any major issue there, since you were able to download from steam at 2.2MB/sec, probably EA's server has a lot of people on logged into it because of the sales. We can't do anything here to help you. You should probably contact EA's customer support and report that to them.

I normally download at 2mb/sec from Origin, there could be a lot of reasons why you're only downloading at 29.6kb/sec, EA's server can be full due to Origin's sale, a lot of people are buying and downloading games at the moment, could have to do with your ISP or with your computer. Try running a netstat command on your computer to check if there are too many connections causing your internet speed to be more slow.

  • Here is what I get, I don't have a clue what it means as I've never used netstat before, all I know is that just toda even while downloading from Origin at 29.6kb/sec I instigated a download on steam which kept a constant pace of 1.9 to 2.2MB/sec

  • Thanks, just tried that, my options were live chat with a 55 to 65 minute wait or to come here to the answers.ea.com question area.

I don't feel the need to wait "on hold" so to speak just to let them know they have a problem so I'll mark your answer as the solution and just steer clear of EA purchases in the future.

Thanks for the effort, it is appreciated.
