How much storage do you currently have? I thought you mentioned earlier that you had 473 GB? If most of that is listed as "purgeable," maybe that's why it won't let you partition your drive.

As for whether your mac meets requirements, Apple says that it does:

And I know you feel like you're spamming, but it's probably easier to deal with issues as they come up, rather than covering everything at once, especially when this early step isn't working.
