Ah, the paul.dll issue.
Try the following:
- Find the paul.dll in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\Packs\TS3EP02 (could be in a subfolder of that
- move it do the desktop
- Find the paul.dll in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\ (could be in a subfolder of that but not in one of the packs
- Copy the paul.dll form the bae game to the folder where you've removed the other file.
Hope my instructions are clear. If not, please ask before doing.
Could you be a little more clear on the directions. I found the first paul, but getting to the second is a bit confusing. Also not sure which paul goes where..Sorry😕mileyembarrassed: Maybe paul 1 paul 2 or something to that effect? thank you!

Sorry. (My mother tongue is German so it's not always easy to explain what I mean)
The base game and every expansion should have their own paul.dll. It seems that for some, an outdated version gets installed to one of the expansions and then you can't start the game. If seems this is the case for you for ambitions.
It's a little difficult to explain since I don't know where you have your games installed. Do you have a separate folder for Ambitons ? Since your exe for ambitions seems to be in a folder called packs, I'm confused. Did Origin install it there or did yo make such a folder ?
What you basically do is replace the paul.dll for Ambitions with the one in the base game. Don't delete the one from ambitons, must move it.
So if I know where your files are installed, it might be a bit easier to explain.

Thanks again. I was speaking with an EA tech person who seems to think that my processor is not fast enough to handle the expansion packs. I became frustrated and uninstalled ambitions. However, I may install it and just try your suggestion to see what happens. Anyhow, thanks for taking the time to help me.
