@puzzlezaddictUnfortunately I just got a HP Victus gaming laptop with a Ryzen 7000 series processor and Sims 3 doesn't launch. The launcher opens but when I click play nothing happens ☹️ I really don't know what to do to get it to work. I tried going to task manager ----> set affinity, unselected 'all processors' and checked only one 'CPU 1' but it still didn't launch. Really have no idea what to do...

@PrimBird927 Please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

And thanks for the report. I hadn't heard anything about these CPUs either way, so I'd like as much information as possible.

@PrimBird927 Your dxdiag doesn't show any Sims 3-related errors, so I'm not sure this is a case of an incompatibility with the processor. The lack of errors suggests the game is being blocked from starting at all rather than it's crashing. (That's not definitive, just somewhat likely.) So the first step here is to disable your antivirus, temporarily, to see whether it helps.
If that doesn't make a difference, please clear the App's cache:
https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/
and repair the game: open your EA App game library, click Sims 3, and select Manage > Repair. Please do this with your antivirus still disabled, and don't reenable it until you've tested the game once.
If that doesn't help, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there. Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account. You'll be able to (try to) launch Sims 3 without reinstalling anything.
If you still can't play, please look for any new errors in the Reliability Monitor. Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day. Today is on the right.
Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent attempt to launch Sims 3, specifically after you've created the new account. If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here. If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
