@Druscylla: This is not the problem of the ugg boots but of the launcher. The launcher sometimes messes up and doesn't show a certain item (no idea why that is). You could try downloading the ugg boots and installing them again. Maybe the then show in the launcher (not sure if that will work tough). Also make sure you checked INSTALLED CONTENT and not DOWNLOADS. Only other way is to delete all *.dbc files and reinstall everything you want to keep.
There might also be a slight change that the ugg boots you have (there are several around) only go away if you find the sim that they got installed with. What icon do the boots show for you in the game ? The little folder for 'package' files or the diamond ?
@OliviaChar: Did you do a windows search ? Did you ever install any sims3packs ? There should be one if you did.
@DJDazza: There are lots of items that get packed with every sims. It will be to much work to list them all, so I'm ONLY listing items that cause monster sims or that are categorized for naked. ALL files in the DCBackup folder are left when you uninstall them from your launcher. That's why it gets clogged up pretty soon.
