Lots missing names and descriptions

I still have my old sims folder and my old dcbackup on my screensaver as a "just in case". But the reason I deleted both, and started anew is because my game was glitching after downloading some lots. (Not these lots, I downloaded these lots last yr and they worked fine, they just dont have names and descriptions anymore AFTER my file transfer and cache deletion). 

Spycoo16​  Well, this has been interesting.  I downloaded your build (using Add to Game) and installed it, and went to place it in an essentially new save in Sunset Valley... and got an almost instant crash to desktop.  So I tried again with a different, larger lot, and it was fine until I told the game to push it to the front of the lot, when I got another CTD.  This doesn't mean your lot is broken—I was testing with the 64-bit Mac version of the game.

What I was intending to test was whether the lot description would be present once I'd placed the build, and it was not (on the third try, with no attempt to move or recenter the build).  So I tried again using the Save File button, and I got the same results.

I'm not sure why the description disappeared.  Is this true for every lot or just some?  If you move the Library files from your old Sims 3 folder into a new folder (not the one you're testing with now), do the descriptions show up?  What about if you grab the contents of Downloads from the old folder?  And for that matter, do the Library files from your old folder have exactly the same names and sizes as what you get when you install your content fresh?  If you have too many files to test, don't bother, but if you only have a few, it would be interesting to see.

Finally, try opening a fresh download with CUSTARD to see whether the lot description appears at all.  And test some of your older downloaded Sims3Packs as well.

Before I transfer the files, remember how the lot I downloaded from the exchange may have been making my game glitch? If I transfer all of my downloads will that file be in there as well?

My old library file has 70 files in it, and my new one has 69 (because I deleted the lot I thought was corrupted). 

My downloads for my current folder has the name in it: 

It even shows the day that I downloaded it from last year. All of the homes I downloaded from last yr, my own page now named "Lot Name" but the things I downloaded from OTHER people on the exchange, and the lots I purchased are named normal and described, they were all transferred the same way. I opened my downloads folder, then I double clicked each one, checked that it was in my launcher, and thought it was fine. In the launcher its listed with the name. 
its also listed as such in my launcher. Just not in game. 

I could just redownload all of them but I guess I was curious why to prevent it from happening again. 

Spycoo16​  Just test in yet another clean user folder, and copy the files rather than moving them.  It's easy and you can delete the new folder when you're done.

In the interim, I checked an upload of mine from 2021 and see the same issue.  So if anyone else reports it, I'll flag it to EA to see whether anything can be done.

Hi Spycoo16​ , do you always add your lot name and description while in Edit Town mode? This needs to be done for the information to be attached to the build.

In my experience, if you just add the information while exporting the file, you will indeed see this showing up on the Exchange but it will not transfer with the file.

Perhaps test and see if this is the case with your builds?

puzzlezaddict​ Hello ok so remove my sims 3 folder in documents, start game, then copy all old files from my most recent into the newest one and install them through the launcher?

Yes this lot was made about 10 years ago, and I did the name and description in game before uploading. I have downloaded these lots on different computers like 2-3 times and never had the issue of them being listed as "lot name", which is why I feel like i did something within this year to effect it. Thank you for the tip tho, I will keep that in mind for my future uploads definitely!!

Spycoo16​  If you want to test, I'd test with one file first, in the new folder, and then another one, not all of them at once.  And I'd still like to know whether CUSTARD picks up the lot name and description on your new downloads of these Sims3Packs as well as any old downloads you have.

Hello, ok I just looked at them on custard and here is two, but they both had descriptions and lot name. These are the old downloads from Jan 2025.

Edit: I also redownlaoded the same lots, and it still says "Lot Name", i moved the original downloads to my desktop to keep just in case, uninstalled them from my launcher then individually installed each lot of the exchange and still no name or description. I also downloaded a world from the exchange  two days ago and it had a name and a description. So, I think it may be these specific lots that are the problem? 

I have not made a new sims 3 folder yet because thats tedious for me rn lol but I will try later this week

Redownlaoded the lots last month, ran them thru custard today, and it says its corrupted! Idk what this means but interesting!! is this a sims website issue ? I unclicked all the red, and redownloaded, but still have no name or description. I have decided to just re-place and then copy/paste the descriptions and titles. IDEK whats going on, maybe its mercury retrograde lol

I also notice when I place my beach house which has a lot of sand, the sand terrain does not place on the lot, and instead matches whatever the chosen lots terrain is, maybe related to the corruption.
