Warning! This is going to be a long post.
First of all, Thank you again for the gift. Please check my thread in the gifting section: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/271220.page
My computer is - thanks to hubby - back in working condition and I did a lot of testing with poor molly. The way she is now in your studio, she has that beautiful dress AND the hair that are actually package files but still come with the sim. I did find out quite a few thing and I also found a way to save all your sims.
First I would like to elaborate a little bit, what I found out (and did not know before. Some of it might be common knowledge to those of you how share stuff, so bear with me).
As we all know, there are Sims and there are households. Sims show up in CAS under premade sims and Households show up in the library at the bottom in Edit Town. Sims are generated when you share them from CAS, Households when you share them from Edit Town without the house (otherwise it's a Lot with Residents).
Exporting from both places will result in a sims3pack BUT when I install them there distinctively different:
- The Launcher pic for households show the whole Sim, while for Sims it only shows the head
- The households (and lots for that matter) are saved in the folder Library in your documents folder and have the extension .package while Sims are saved in the folder SavedSims and have the extention .sim.
- If I export a household and I have those stupid things in my game (whether used or not), package files will NOT get attached (yes, using that word for those) while you export them as Sims, they will.
- Don't know if above is true for skintones.
So, because of this, here is the way, how you can rid Molly and the others of that ugly dress (the hair will be gone too, though).
1. Open a new game
2. Go in CAS and make a family with ALL the sims you want to save (maybe you will need more than one family)
3. Place them in the game. You can export them as households to make extra sure that you don't loose them
4. Save and exit your game
5. Go to your SavedSim folder und move everything in it to the desktop or an external harddrive (you probably won't need that stuff anymore, but don't delete to be on the safe side)
6. Turn of custom content and go back into your save game.
7. The hair and all other stuff that was on the sims should now be gone from your game
8. Now you can either just export them as households or you can get Twallan's MasterController to take all your Sims back to CAS and export them as Sims. Up to you.
9. All your sims should now be clean of any bad cc.
I'm also showing two Custard pictures for those of you who use Custard often, so that you know, which sims have something bad attached to them.
This first one is Molly, exported as a household, the second is molly as I downloaded her from proudmama4boyz

Here the bad download shows up in the description of the Sim but NOT as subtype. When I install this file, I don't have the bad cc in my game.

Here the bad download shows up in the subtype and NOT in the description of the Sim. It also shows up in the description of the thumbnails. When I install this file, I do have the bad cc in my file.
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask. I will redo the first post and link this on the weekend.
