My issues which mimic what others have had happen were due to files that could not be removed via the launcher, all 3rd party CC, which showed up in the installed content - were objects that the debugger reported caused the game crashes I was having after installing LN but failed removal through the launcher.
I would select the files in installed contents and choose uninstall and would get an error saying that the uninstall failed. Obviously these had been installed via sims3packs and installed somewhere literally impossible for me to remove. They were not in DCBackup but it appears they were incorporated into the ebf files in DCCache? Unfortunately, the only way I could remove them was to remove the games and re-install, which went well and the game is now running fine.
This bothers me a bit - I had gotten the doll when it hijacked a house I downloaded from the exchange and have had some issues with some of the few 3rd party CC have have installed, but in all these cases the files were in DCBackup and removable via the installed content tab in the launcher, or could just be deleted from the DCBackup directory. But this getting 3rd party content installed into the DCCcache files (and possibly other places for all I can tell) and failing to uninstall through the launcher has brought me to a serious halt.
I had absolutely no problems with the little 3rd party CC I installed or the exchange houses I had downloaded and installed so I don't think this was "Bad CC" in the sense that bad CC is usually meant. It worked fine until I installed LN and so I am sure its just content that needs to be updated for changes that have happened for LN. I had removed the 3rd party CC I knew I had installed before installing LN, assuming that some game changes would require somethings to be updated to work with LN (as happens with every expansion pack). I actually think most likely the 3rd party CC I had installed knowing probably has no issues, but when installing a new EP I always remove it until the creator has tested and cleared it.
This time, however, I was caught by 3rd party CC installed I did not know I had where I did not expect it to be and not where I would have assumed it would be. And since its not easily removed and is incorporated in what appears to be game files along with game content its going to be very hard to deal with since you cant just move it to a directory somewhere until the creator can test it. Since it apparently been installed with lots I actually have no clue who the original creators even are or where the content came from. Since it failed to uninstall successfully and apparently hitched a ride along with lots from people I know meant it when they said they used no CC its pretty insidious and therefore under suspect - but that does not mean that the creators did anything wrong and it worked for the games it was created/tested with - as far as I can tell some of it has been part of my game since before Fast Lane, so it was not causing problems up until LN changes.
Is there a step I missed to remove this content that fails to be uninstalled through the installed content uninstall option?
