Amjoie, seeing you are trying to lessen the number of ghosts and graves - I did not mention the Manage the dead - seeing that gives you even more graves to handle. But the ones in there are generally sims often times part of a story or related to someone in the back story that die in the game when you were not watching or were off their lot when they died. It also often captures a number of the user made household sims that die when you are not playing their house, so in that case - like in legacies where you need the families dead on their lots for points, it is a handy way to get your sim and the tombstone onto your legacy lot. When the game first came out almost all the unobserved deaths seemed to go in there, but now it seems mostly the ones I mentioned - your game families or sims related or from the backstory houses. Most of the rest of the sims that die, if you are not watching just seem to vanish - tombstone and all, and won't generally be in the mausoleum.
I know what you are thinking, I think, that just drop off all your graves - which would be nice, but it doesn't seem to take them in from us - so therefore I didn't think you would be interested in that info.
I also noted around the time LN came out was when it seemed to take in a lot less of the towns sims, as I like to put them in my graveyards, as those are all occupied gravestones, and remove all the ones just there for looks - it seems way more sparse than it used to - so I believe some of the programming to what goes there was made a bit smaller or something.
But it will not help you lessen the graves and ghosts for sure.
Also families the game adds do not end up there either unless you actually play their household for a while and the game will change how it sees that household and list it as one of yours. (That's an invisible list we don't see that's in the programming to make the game curtail killing off and moving out sims considered yours.)
