Sorry, but when the pauses/lags/freezes are lasting much longer then the playtime in between them, I find the game unplayable. I don't have BB, so I really don't know anything about it. But keep in mind I tend to play very large towns, with all EP, usually with most venues, and bustling with Sims. I like my towns to feel alive and to have a lot of diversity.
Of course, this was before I learned a lot of the information included in this thread. Simply not deleting EA Sims and not using the World Editor alone have greatly increased the lifespan of my towns greatly! Once I installed ET and OW my ability to enjoy my time in game increased even more.
well which town do you play then...because if you use all the venues available you'd have to use the world editor at some point to place the lots....
And yes i do i have a strick vanilla game going of SS...which i deleted 3 lots...replaced the AMB lot placements...and put in the pets lots..added in a huge garden and a pool..on week 15 now...with no ill affects....and yes aging and sp are on....which means that many of the EA premades have already moved out on their own too...so their gone....Thats just part of the game....the premades hold no affect on the town after they have been deleted....
Well, that is the thing, isn't it? How I like to play and how I am able to play are not always the same. Like my legacy right now is in RV and I just can not have all the venues (or even most!). There is a lot of space in RV and in the past I have used the WE tool to put in many new lots but those saves always became corrupted after awhile. Same thing in SV, LL, AP, and HS; if I use the WE tool to add lots they end up corrupt. I think SV is the only one that has any hope of fitting in most of the venues/rabbittholes. But then it doesn't leave much room for playing and expanding. I haven't had a lot of time to play in LP yet, though it does look like it has potential (though still not enough lots).
Since I stopped using the WE, I combine lots whenever I can by building my own (or using ones others have built if I trust their builds) and/or using the existing multi-function ones. I have also started using Sunset Valley 2 and Longview for my new games as it has become evident that I just can not play the way I want to in the regular EA towns. But really, I rebuild as many of the big lots as I can onto smaller ones. Currently, I have a save of each of those world (SV2 and LV) that I am slowly rebuilding many of the lots for. I've been doing all of my building in a seperate save. (SV2 is Magic_Dancer's world and LV is Rflong's world)
I like them because they are big, empty worlds (with empty lots) which I can fill however I want. I always end up seeding my towns with my own pre-made sims and animals. Which is why my RV graveyard got so full, I had to age up/kill off a lot of the original residents. It is a lot of work but I love building and I always end up renovating/rebuilding most of the EA lots anyway. Even before I had a clue about any of the stuff in this thread (or even used ANY cheats) I could clearly see that a lot of EA's builds were just messed up when I'd try to play in them and needed to be fixed.
I am a little confused about your usage of vanilla game, which usually (in gaming terms) means only using the base game and none of the expansions. I think you mean no mods or CC? But if the premades move out of town on their own then I don't think that would cause an issue. Deleting them though, I'm not sure how you can delete them and have your game not turn into a huge lag-fest eventually. I have never been able to accomplish this. In the past I have always had to restart my saves because eventually the lag would get too bad or the saves would get corrupted.
Of course I can't even play my games anymore without Twallan's Story Progression (Awesomemod worked too) because EA's SP kills off the babies and toddlers, eventually leaving me with few children/teens in town. I know people say it does this if the world gets too full but it does it to my games even when they are near-empty or started new. I could turn SP off but as genetics is one of the main reasons I like this game, it would be pointless for me to play then.
So for me, this game has really become about minimizing the issues as much as I possibly can while trying to play it the way I love to. As with anything though, there are trade-offs.
