I have used the cow plant a lot. Today I tried it in Barnacle Bay and Aurora Skies.
Both plants ate Sims. The one thing I noticed is, you have to have a LOT of Sims before it eats one of them.
In all my game play I have only had one Sim on my home lot get eaten. It spits everyone else out. Fortunately the one Sim the cow plant ate was a zombie.
I put it on community lots, in Aurora Skies I put it in the Casino (from Lucky Palms) and in Barnacle Bay, I put it in the Gym. Both times it took a lot of Sims to bother it before it actually ate one of them.
And yes I could milk it too.
