Can I have the sims 3 and 4 on the same computer?

I already have the sims 4 and have since i got it. I really want the sims 3.

It is an Asus computer (not a laptop)

It is a few years old, here is the information on it:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9400F CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90GHz

RAM: 8.00GB

System type: 64-bit

Computer name: DESKTOPOLQGP33

Do you think it could handle both games?

  • @SimonEboracunian  The only possible reason not to have both Sims 3 and 4 on the same computer is storage space.  The Sims 3 base game only takes up about 6 GB; adding all packs brings the total to about 32.  Saves are also larger than their Sims 4 counterparts, so you'd want to budget at least a few GB for those, maybe more if you also plan to install a lot of custom content or you like having lots of backup saves.  (Definitely keep at least a few backup saves; Sims 3 is notorious for saves that just won't load all of a sudden.)  So I'd say you probably want around 50 GB free before installing the base game, or 75 if you're going to buy all the expansions and stuff packs too.

I don't know what GPU your computer has, but based on the processor, it needs to have a dedicated graphics card of some kind.  Even an Nvidia GTX 1050, desktop version, is enough to handle Sims 3 on ultra settings; faster cards can help performance up to a point, but there are diminishing returns.  If you do install Sims 3, you'll need to limit your in-game framerates regardless of what card you have.  If and when you do install teh game, let me know if you'd like help with this process.

If you do want all the content, Steam offers a "The Sims 3 Collection" bundle: all expansion and stuff packs except for Katy Perry Sweet Treats, which can't be purchased anyway, for $133 U.S.  (This doesn't include the base game, which is $20.)  It's a lot of money, but not nearly as much as buying all the content directly from EA for $20 per pack.  And the Steam version doesn't require the EA App, or Steam for that matter, to be running while you play.
