Cannot exit out of Sims 3 (have to use the task manager to end the program)
We have installed the Sims 3 70-80-90 stuff pack onto our system and we lost the ability to quit out of the game. We can open the launcher, and open a world, play with the game modify lots and homes as normal and we can save our changes to the game. The problem is when we go to leave the game after the save, we select quit and exit without saving, and the computer sets there with a blank screen with the busy circle spinning endlessly. It does not matter how long we wait I have let the computer set over night and it never reverts back to the Windows desktop and the Sims 3 Launcher.
What we end up having to do is open the task manager, find the ts3.exe executable in the processes tab, and terminate the process. Then we can get back to the desktop and close the computer normally.
We recently reformatted the computer and reinstalled our Windows XP 64 bit OS. We spent more than a day making sure that all Windows updates were applied to bring the computer up to the most current state that we can. We then installed all the Sims 3 games/expansion packs/ stuff packs in order of their release we currently have all patches applied to both the game, the launcher, and to Origin. The current version showing in the launcher screen is 17.0.77.021001.
With all the money we have spent on on the game, the expansion packs, and the stuff packs (ranging from $20-$40 per disk) I would expect a game that is fairly reliable. I have to say The Sims 3 is far from reliable, we have gone thru all the troubles with the software crashing in various different ways from freezing, to black screens, to just crashing to the desk top. In total we have purchased 18 Sims 3 product CD each with the hope that they would include significant enough fixes to make the game stable. By the shear fact that I have to post this issue, the game is not any more stable. Come on EA Games, I believe we have demonstrated that we are a loyal customer, all total with the product updates and the Sims 3 store content that we have purchased we have spent several hundreds of dollars with EA Games. Where is the results that we deserve for our loyalty? It does not exist! How about you provide a product that functions as advertised. A reliable product, instead of a product that makes the customer feel like they have been fools, and taken advantage of.
