When I try to click on a gate to lock it as usual, nothing happens. The cursor doesn't even change! I've tried different gates, with moveobject on, in live build and buy modes. Shift ctrl and right click let me lock, but not lock only to pets like I always have done. Help! I haven't downloaded any custom content for a long time, and am only just having this trouble today.

I think I found a solution to the gate issue!!! I am copying and pasting this, as written, from the original source...However, after enabling testingcheats, and while in Build/Buy mode, and by holding CTRL+Shift and left-clicking on the gate, the option for 'Lock' was available. So I selected that. I also selected 'enable for triggers' or something similar, and then activated that, I was able to set the gate as 'front gate' in Live Mode. From there I could designate who could pass through the gate.This worked for me!Something else I noticed: If the gate is not on a closed fence (ie a box or the gate touching the house on both ends) it won't allow you to lock it!

Hi @Suabam, I'm sorry to read you are having issues with your game. Let's try something, ok? Create a new game or load a different game, and check if you have the same issue in that other game. Are you still unable to lock doors? This will help us know if the problem is happening in only one save game or in all of them. 😉 -Mai

Hi @Suabam, Could you try other households in the same save games to check if the issue is happening only in that house or it happens in all the houses of that save game? If it's only in that house, we could try to save the lot in your library and place it again somewhere else, that might help. Or you could move your family to another house. Also, have you tried to click with different sims selected? -Mai

I've figured out how you can fix this. This is apparently happening because the gate is not attached to an enclosed fence. If you add a gate to a closed fence (meaning that all four sides of the area is enclosed with fence) then the gate should work. It will not work if the fence is incomplete. I hope this helps!

I just had this happen to me for the first time. The fence has to be complete, meaning there can be no gaps.
