Is there any way to get back to the town and the family my uni sims came from? I don't even care if they graduate or not at this point. I just want to get back to the town mostly.

I take it you don't have a backup ?
You can try if you can get back to the hood by moving the nhd file for the Uni World in the saves folder to the desktop. It might work, it might cause the game not to load.
Only other solution I have is using a mod to clean up the corruption. If you wanna go there (at your own risk, this solution is not supported by EA), google ErrorTrap and Overwatch NRAAS and follow instructions there. I can't go into specifics on here.

No I didn't have a backup..
I made a backup of this game though, then moved the uni nhd file to the desktop. But all I got at townselection was an empty icon and some message saying something went terribly wrong with the application.
I could give the mods a try, but I have never used them before. I think I'll look it over and get back to you about it.
I can't believe that I am probably gonna lose my whole town and all the sims in it, that I worked so hard on, just because something screwed up at Uni.. ☹️

Yeah, it's a bad issue.
My tip for the future: Always save your game under a different name before going to Uni, travel with WA or visit the Future in ITF. This way, you can at least go back to that game should the sub-hoods screw up.
