Cant install Sims 3

Hi everyone,

I have been looking everywhere online to find a solution to my problem but could not find anything ☹️

So I have downloaded the sims 3 on my Mac but when it comes to the installation phase I get an error message appearing on my screen. I have tried everything but it still doesn't work!!

here is the error message I'm getting

  • @mathildeblay  I take if your Mac runs Catalina?  If so, that's the issue: Sims 3 is a 32-bit app, and Catalina is 64-bit only.  There's no way around this issue.  But EA has announced a 64-bit-compatible version of the game for macOS, to be released some time in early 2020.  Here's the full announcement:

    In the interim, your only options are to play on another computer, or to install a second OS on your Mac.  If you only just bought the game and don't want to wait, you can request a refund from EA.

    @AButera001  Yes, it will.  Or rather, it does most of the time.  There are a few issues with the game right now, but it's mostly pretty stable in Catalina.

    this can't actually be the reason because I used to play Sims 3 and only had to reinstall because I deleted it. Is it possible it's something else?

    It is the reason, most of the time.  And if a Mac has been updated to Catalina since the last time you installed and played, than it's definitely the reason.

    If you don't run Catalina, please let me know your OS, and whether the message you get is exactly the same as the original poster's or not.
