Can't play game at all

I played the game fine last night (Feb 1), and now I can't get the game to load properly, or even start. My first attempt, I logged in, started the game, but noticed the start screens were generic. When my world opened, it said objects were missing, and even some lots were gone. So I shut down and started over. Now, I can't get the launcher to launch. I start from the ERA app, and if the Sims 3 launcher opens at all, it closes and reverts to the app the moment I try to start the game. I tried to reset the app, and nothing different happens. I haven't added CC or mods or anything between last night and today, I cleared all the temp files and error reports like I always do. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I rarely get to play during the week, so Saturday and Sunday are my main days to play, and I really want to play today!

  • goderguy  Please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you open the launcher, if it opens, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs, if you can get that far.

    If you can't get that far, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
