Can't redeem free simspoints

I purchased the sims3 collection from steam and got the redemption code, I also activated it in the EA desktop software and my EA account shows that I have the game, but when I logged into the sims3 website there was no option for free simspoint, causing me to not be able to redeem the towns and official items that I should have been able to redeem!
