Can't register my Sims 3 Serial Number (Bought on Steam)

I bought the Sims 3 on Steam last weak and I want to register the game in the Website, but I don´t know where to find the serial number. I have looked in my e-mail and I tried to activate the game using the Sims 3 Steam product code but it's invalid somehow.

Can someone help me?

  • @itsBlurry01  The serial number is the CD Key, which you can see in Steam under Manage.  If that key isn't working, please make sure that you're writing it correctly, for example that you haven't mistaken an o for a zero or vice versa.

If that doesn't help, are your Steam and EA accounts linked?  It's possible that Sims 3 was already added to your EA account due to the link, although I don't know for sure that this happens or that it should.

Otherwise, you'll need to contact EA customer support.  Take a screenshot of your Steam library with your username and the CD Key both showing.  You can upload the screenshot when you submit the help request.  I would strongly recommend using live chat rather than email.  If you don't see the option, try this link:

    https://help.ea.com/en/help-contact-us/?product=the-sims-3&topic=missing-game&category=manage-my-account&subcategory=find-missing-game

Make sure you're signed into an EA site (this one is fine) before clicking the link and that the location in the lower-right corner of the browser window is set to U.S. or U.K.

  • I can't register the CD key for my Sims 3 game on the Sims 3 site. Copy/paste didn't work, and typing it manually didn't work. I just recently bought the base game and the Sims 3 collection on Steam, which is where I got the key from.

Are you sure you didn't register it under a different email/account?

I had issues with the base game from Steam as well. I had to contact EA support, and it seems like its been fixed now.

I contacted support through chat, and the person I talked to didn't seem to understand that you can register your Sims 3 game on the Sims 3 site. So they told me I'd have to wait for the Sims team to help me in the forum. I even shared a screenshot of the error I got after submitting the CD key for my Sims 3 game.

SimGuruMonkey helped me get it going. I was able to register my game and all the packs that would get me free objects and Riverview, as well as like 3.5k in Sim Points.

    Hi there,

I experienced the same Steam-related register problem and reported the problem to EA My cases through chat, but even had no access to a human advisor with any reply before my case appeared resolved. According to How to use EA Help chat it's either because they're fixing the problem or others got the solution in a former passage. However my problem is not solved at all, I still can't register. I'm wondering how to solve the problem, and as you mentioned "SimGuruMonkey helped me get it going", I'd be so grateful if you could tell me 🙂

  • I was able to chat with someone, but they were no help and told me after I provided all the info including screenshots and the CD key from Steam that someone from the Sims team would help me. It was through the Sims 3 site that I got a message from SimGuruMonkey that my registration was successful. I was then able to grab all the goodies. I hope you're able to reach someone in chat who will help you, or get someone from the Sims team to.

@rissykitten and @djy444  Just to clarify, SimGuruMonkey isn't a person, it's the name attached to an automated messaging system.  Whenever you register content, you're supposed to get this kind of notification.  There was no one on the EA end actually fixing something; the system just worked as intended, eventually.

Yeah, still unable to do it: "The serial code you entered is invalid. Please enter a valid serial code and re-submit." My case: Steam and EA accounts already linked, serial number the same, email the same. I probably clicked Create an account! in the top-left corner on thesims3 website by mistake, and went through the EA login window by clicking the Steam icon. So it seemed that I created a new account, not the Steam-EA-linked one, which led to the problem.
