Clarity on Sims 3 64bit

Hi all,

I contacted EA support today (due to some restrictions with the chat and messages failing to send I could not continue it to dig deeper) after learning from this forum that a 64 bit version is available for the Sims 3 and if it is missing to contact support. After a brief conversation with the chap he informed me that "if you are using Using you don't need 64 bit for Sims 3." It's a shame the chat crashed, I couldn't get clarity on what that means, so I've inferred from this that he means 64 bit is not necessary for Windows, though that doesn't seem quite right to me. Intentionally limiting hardware and capping to 4GB. I have been experiencing crashes when transferring worlds such as that from University or Oasis to the main Town and occasionally I get the soft freezes where music keeps playing, plumbobs keep spinning, etc and the only choice you have is to force the game to close via task manager. It feels important that for the game to be backwards compatible that 64 bit should be available for windows.

Did the agent get it wrong or did I misunderstand?

Thanks in advance.

  • MysteryPotato133  There is no 64-bit version of Sims 3 for Windows.  The Mac version was created because macOS lost support for 32-bit apps entirely with the release of Catalina (OS X 10.15) in fall 2019.  So Mac users had no way to run Sims 3.  The 64-bit version is a compatibility update, that's all.

Since Windows still runs 32-bit apps just fine, EA hasn't made a 64-bit version at this time.
