@MaxisJoe Hate to bother you again, but is EA even aware of this issue? I understand you cannot comment on unannounced project roadmaps or whatsoever, but is this at least an issue that Maxis and EA are aware of (not asking whether they plan on updating the game, just that at least people around the studio understand that this is an issue we're having)?
@acwesty Since MaxisJoe works for EA and thanked the people in this thread for the report, I think it's safe to say that EA is aware of the issue.
@acwestySorry, but I really don't think the persistent in-game issues with this version of the game like open water in most worlds being an unpenetrable layer can be addressed by mods. Our sense (at NRaas) is that the game was forced onto a new foundation to make it run in some way, shape, or form and to that extent it was a mostly successful endeavor. Most of these resulting bugs feel like things that would need to be changed in the game's underlying design to make them work again and really only EA can do that if they were willing to devote the resources to it.
So the TL;DR version is sorry, no I am not aware of any such effort being undertaken.
