For years, mac users not being able to interact with open water in the Sims 3 has been a problem. I am just wondering if there has been any workaround yet or if EA has plans to do something because I love this game and I wish I could play it to its fullest on Mac.

mxodsol There's no fix for this, and no reliable workaround. What does work some of the time is clicking through another surface, for example clicking the bottom of a boat to tell the sim to interact with the water underneath. This may also work when there's a pier or other surface in the way, if you angle the camera just right.
EA hasn't released a patch for the 64-bit Mac version of the game in over four years, so I wouldn't expect anything at this point. But then EA did just rerelease Sims 1 and 2, so anything is possible.

I play the Mac 64 bit version as well and not being able to interact with the water is frustrating. My sims can only fish at designated fishing spots. Something I find odd is that sims can autonomously interact with the water, but it is not clickable. If I take my sim to the beach, they will autonomously play in the water, but if I click on the water nothing happens. Yesterday I saw a dog from a family I wasn't playing taking a water taxi up the river in Riverview.
