Hey all, any help would be appreciated.
My girlfriend has owned Sims 3 on Origin for Mac for years and she just got OS Catalina. So yesterday we downloaded the new 64 bit Sims 3 and all the expansion packs she owns. When we click play in Origin the game launcher boots as normal, however when you click the play button in the launcher it closes and an error message pops up "Unable to start game. Your The Sims 3 Base Game is incompatible with the current Sims 3 Expansion Pack. Please update your game via the game launcher." She has several expansion packs all, including the base game, purchased legally through Origin.
I've gone and updated the game within Origin and it says the game is up to date. It also may be worth noting we're trying to run it off an external hard drive. Origin is installed on the hard drive and it installed the base game + expansions all onto the hard drive.
Again, any help would be appreciated; I'm not very well versed with Origin.
Thanks

Hi this happened to me. Logging out of origin and restarting my mac then logging back in worked, although I'm assuming you might have already tried that. Also try going in to Finder>Documents>EA>Sims 3> and delete the file called Version.tag then relaunching origin.

@EmmaVD Please start a new thread for that issue; this one is for the specific error you were seeing. Please also attach your deviceconfig.log to the post; it's in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3. (You'll need to manually open the folders; the file won't show up in a search.) You can delete your user and computer names, about 25 lines down, but there's nothing else in that file that can identify you.
