[CURRENT ISSUE 64-bit] Cannot collect insects
My sims cannot collect any insects in Sims 3. This includes:
butterflies
beetles
fireflies
nanites
However, I believe all other collectibles work fine, with the exception of the underw...

yep, exact same problem. It is very nice to know that this is not just me, but I really hope a patch comes out that fixes this, it seems like there is no fix as of right now, and it sucks but at least it's not a game breaking bug.
I can't catch fish while scuba diving either. But I can collect seashells.

While sculpting the block is pure black, and looks like it's slapped on layer on top. Idk if it makes sense. It can cover my sim, like the sim is under it.
I have issue with mirrors and textures too. Hair of my sims looks like old not working TV. Has this moving noise.
My showers are reflecting stuff - even stuff that are behind the wall in the home.
It's still playable, but it's still a bug 🙂
If you need to collect some bugs for an opportunity... Become a witch. She can transform stuff with magic and then collect it LOL.

- I can't catch fish or collect insects either, I've also had some issues with the game crashing when picking wildflowers but I'm not sure if it's 'normal' crashing or because of collecting

I had no trouble collecting wildflowers, but it's possible there's something about the interaction that's tripping up your game. If you're not playing in Sunset Valley, try collecting there, just to see whether it makes a difference. You can start a new save and cheat some lifetime happiness points (google "Sims 3 lifetime happiness cheat") to get a collection helper, so you don't have to spend extra time looking around.
