DirectX Error Sims 3
Hello everyone, and before anything else, im sorry, my english may be a mess. Now, I know that there are already other posts concerning this topic, but I think most of them are from more than a ...
@CatCobain Are you running Windows 10 on a mac maybe? If you are running Windows 10 you have to have DirectX 12. Windows 10 is unique and you need to install the proper version. Some how DX 12 got damaged or infected. You may need to get a Windows 10 installation disc - you can download the iso and make it - and boot to installation disc and use the repair feature. The only other way I can think of is a reinstall of Windows 10. I am going through a similar issue and some Windows 10 files got corrupted and I'm right now going though a Windows 10 install on a new hard drive because the files are Windows 10 core files and can not be fixed - if they can be fixed Microsoft isn't sharing the information. I've been fighting this issue for over a year and have tried many things only to make it worse. Windows 8 was a mess and windows 10 is what Windows 8 should have been. Windows 10 seems to be a package that is not backwards compatible. You have a Windows operating system issue - not a program issue.
Nope, Im running windows 10 in a HP Notebook, so I have to reinstall Windows 10 again? Like, deleting everything and stuff? I really wanted to avoid that but If nothing else could help me then I guess this must be the only way.
When you said that they can´t be fixed, you mean that when you try to run the compatibility program? Because everytime I tried to run it on DXSetup.exe it never did.
The again, I heard somewhere that DirectX 12 doesn´t run many games right now, could it be that? I mean, I know i´m being delusional, I just really wanted to avoid the reinstalling Windows 10 thing ;n; But oh well.
Thank you very much for answering!
@caatmoreno DX 12 runs on Windows 10 (and up?). Windows 10 does not support anything lower then DX 12. DX 12 supports everything below DX 12 (or is supposed to). I recently had to regen my gaming computer because Windows 10 got damaged and there is no (no known) way to reinstall the damaged parts. The computer booted and ran programs but I couldn't backup and restore and I couldn't turn on Defender. Every time I tried to fix Windows it got worse. I tried several solutions but they must have been out of date as nothing ever got fixed. This is over 2 years of trying things and I finally pulled out the install disc and started over. There may have been a solution but Microsoft sure wouoldn't tell me. I almost was going to call Microsoft and pay to fix it BUT the last time (many years ago) I ended up with a broken operating system and had to reinstall anyway so I thought I'd save the money. hth
btw - today I find it faster (and cheaper) to regen then it is to try and fix a bad operating system. Most people don't want to wait days (weeks -months) to get their system back. There are three basic things you should learn and practice in computers BACKUP, BACKUP, and BACKUP
So I finally did what you said, and it worked for me.
Surprinsingly I thought that It would take me at least two days to get my system back, but no, it took me like and hour or less to get Windows 10 back and with a clean reinstall.
I could finally install the game and im really happy about it, you were right, it probably got corrupted at some point and this was the only way, lol.
Thank you very much for your help and patience! :D
